Dark (not-so-scary) Wall Colours

Today it's rainy and miserable outside so I think it is the perfect time to stay in and work on the new home. So much painting to do! Naturally, I will not be able to begin this work until I write something....er....ya.

Anyway, as I said before, I really want to go with light white walls in this place. But there will always be a place in my heart for dark colours (and I think at least one room in this place will probably be proof of this).

But not everyone has love for dark blues, grays and even black shades. Many people are hesitant to commit to bold and heavy wall colours. You'll always hear the old-wives tales of design, "I'd only use a dark colour in a room with tons of natural light." Or "I can't paint that colour, it will shrink the room!"

In reality, a dark paint colour can add drama and mystery to a medium sized room, as well as creating a sense of depth and size (the corners of the room are not as obvious). And in a small room, a dark accent wall can extend one end of the room as well as adding fun and flair.

Here's a few lovely rooms that have inspired my love of the dark...

The black bathroom has to be my favourite. It's just so dramatic!

Happy rainy Tuesday, to you!
