The Bedroom Begins

In the spirit of keeping an up-to-date account of what is going on around here, I thought I would post a few pictures of what has been going on with the bedroom in our new place.

Remember the bedroom?
Blue. LOTS of blue. Blue walls, blue ceiling, blue trim, even a blue sea-creature-esque ceiling fan.

It all had to go.

Check out the before photos:

sooo much blue...

We started by puttying holes and priming walls, (that seemed to take forever), and then finally we splashed three coats of white paint on the entire surface area. A good cleaning of the hardwood floor and the room was finally livable (and way less like an aquarium).

We moved our mattress in (we have yet to purchase a bed frame)...

... and hung up some curtains.

So that is where we're at for now. The room is bare. It's looks like Martha Stewart's cell block; nice bedding but not much else in the way of character.

But don't worry - I do have goals for this room: I'm thinking a canopy bed, cozy lighting (maybe the string lights left over from the wedding?), a subtle graphic print rug, our sheepskin, crates full of white candle sticks and an antique dresser. Oh, and hat boxes. And maybe a bunting flag for the mirror!

Here are a few pics that have inspired my vision for our bedroom.
